Mentally Challenged Ill Home
Institution for persons with disabilities vide S.No 296 / 2019, under section 51 (2) of the Rights of persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and section 7 of the "Tamil nadu Registration of psychiatric Rehabilitation centres of mentally ill Persons" Rules 2002. to run residential home for mentally ill persons (Female).
The home for mental ill victims was inaugurated by District Collector in SRDPS last January. A special camp was organized to issue Identity card to the Mentally challenged and differently abled persons. District Welfare Officer for Disabled issued the identity cards.
The Residential Home for mentally Ill (Female) was inaugurated by District Differently abled welfare officer in SRDPS on January 2018. Abandoned and Orphan Mentally Ill patients are admitted to the Residential Home.
Then the Commissionerate for Welfare of the Differently abled , Chennai issued a Recognition certificate on 26.06.2018. SRDPS provided free medical treatments, Psychiatric treatment, Therapy, Exercise, Yoga, counseling, Group work, Games and Entertainments activities etc. Every year theyare taken outside for a pleasure picnic. All of them got Differently abled Identity card from District Differently able Welfare office. Once in a month Psychiatric consultation was given to the Patients. All of them got proper medical treatments.
The patients are cured after the treatments they are handed over to the relatives or guardians. In the year 2020-201 there are 3 patients were admitted to the Residential Home. 8 persons are handed over to their family after they are cured. In the end of March 31st 2021 there are 26 Mentally Ill Patients are under our care. From January 2019 onwards to till now Home has received 53 Mentally Ill women.
