Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi is an important festival for Hindus. Celebrated every year by devotees around the world, this 10-day event honors Lord Ganesh - son of Lords Shiva and Parvati - who is considered the God of beginnings. Temples are decorated with flowers and other decorative materials to honor Him. People from all across the country travel to offer their prayers and partake in festive celebrations like offering prasad to the deity.

To fully experience this celebration, families engage in activities such as cleaning homes, decorating them with special items or even designing colorful idols of Lord Ganesha which they immerse in water on Anant Chaturdashi - the concluder of the 11-day event. This year's Ganesh Chaturthi falls on September 13th 2018.
